Coca-Cola Mixology 101

I have to admit it, I'm a soda (pop, if you're a transplanted Michigander like me) junkie! There used to be a time when you would open my fridge and see forty-eight cans of Coke or Dr. Pepper, a carton of two week old Chinese food and a gallon of milk just past its expiration date, but still drinkable. At least according to my dearly departed mother.

Back in the day you had two choices - Coke, or that other soft drink. Needless to say, we were always a Coca-Cola family! I was genuinely pleased when my good friend Andrea over at runeatdatesleep.com told me that her friends at Coca-Cola wanted me to take a look at the new machines they had been placing in gas stations and restaurants that allowed you to customize your own drinks.

It's actually pretty easy. I went to the Coca-Cola Freestyle® website, looked for the location closest to me, and took a drive over to start my Mixology 101. I chose one of the Hess Gas Stations on Walt Disney World property over by Disney's Boardwalk Resort and began my experimentation. By the way, since this is really a Disney Blog, that was your Disney reference for this posting!

Besides Hess Gas Stations, you can also find the Coca-Cola Freestyle® machines at Burger King, AMC Theaters at Downtown Disney and Firehouse Subs, just to name a few.

You can easily choose to create your own Coke, Sprite, Minute Maid Lemonade, Hi-C, Dasani, Mello Yello, Barq’s, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Powerade, Fanta, and much, much more.

Once you select your favorite brand, you can then choose a flavor or two to change things up a bit.

I stuck with the good Dr. as it has always been one of my favorites - remember the forty-eight cans?
A touch of cherry and a little bit of vanilla and my first concoction was created and quickly consumed. By the way, please don't tell my running trainer that I snuck a soda. I will never hear the end of it.

I really dig the Coca-Cola Freestyle® Machine - when I sneak that soda, I will definitely be utilizing this big fella any time that I can. The possibilities are practically limitless and will be sure to please any soda pop connoisseur!

So check them out at Coca-Cola Freestyle® and discover the fountain of YOU!

Now it's time to clean that refrigerator out...

PIXAR Place Expansion Coming Soon??

I'm going against everything I believe in when it comes to rumors, specifically DISNEY rumors, but I find this one way too juicy (and likely accurate) to pass up. According to a few reputable WDW fan websites, it seems that the Studio Backlot Tour is poised to close down at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We know that since Oaken's Trading Post and Frozen Funland are moving out of the Soundstage 1 area, work should soon begin on the rumored (and much needed) third track for Toy Story Mania.  Why close the Backlot Tour? It appears that area is destined to be home to a rather extensive PIXAR Place expansion. According to WDW News Today, we will likely see smaller, flat-rides developed for Toy Story Playland at Disneyland Resort in Paris and Toy Story Land at Hong Kong Disneyland including RC Racer, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin, and the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop. Attractions in this area don't take us much real estate as these rides would require, so WDW News Today specula

The Art of Topiary Gardening from Walt Disney World Resort

Topiary gardening, the art of fashioning living plan into ornamental shapes, has been practiced for centuries. Found throughout the gardens of the Walt Disney World Resort are hundreds of topiary figures, ranging from traditional hedges and sheared trees to fanciful shapes and a whole menagerie of "chlorophyll" Disney characters. Types of Topiary Four different types of topiary at the Walt Disney World resort have developed out of our desire to put on an award-winning horticultural show. Free-form topiary and standard form topiary require your imagination and some sharp shears - the other two utilize a frame specially suited to their needs. A lightweight frame is used for shrub topiary, while sphagnum topiary require a much stronger frame specially designed to support the weight of the figure. Standard Form Topiary The world standard is used to describe a plant that is grown to a designated height and then encouraged to bush or form a "head" at t
