WOW! I haven't even finished my training for the 2013 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and now we're already talking about Expedition Everest Challenge? Holy smokes! No rest for the weary, and now that this running thing has me hooked, this event in the runDisney series is a definite not miss!

Start/Finish: Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park

Take a run on the wild side and uncover the mystery of the clues!

Take a run on the wild side during the Expedition Everest Challenge, a thrill-packed, timed endurance event that combines a 5K adventure run through Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park with the challenge of a scavenger hunt. Your nighttime adventure starts in base camp where you'll begin a journey along an obstacle strewn course. Then get set for all the excitement of a scavenger hunt in the spectacular setting of Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Complete the challenge and escape with a special edition Compass finisher medal.

Double the adventure and fun and run as a two-person Trek team! Teams can be all male, all female, coed, military or mother/daughter.

Here's a chance for even the youngest adventurers to participate in fun-filled races designed for kids 4-10 years old. Activities include running, climbing, and searching – just like mom and dad! And every child who participates in the runDisney Kids Races goes home a winner with their very own finisher medallion! Encourage your young adventurers to join the fun. Come party the night away with the Yeti!

You've earned it – the right to party with the Yeti at Expedition Everest (if you dare go on his mountain)! Plus entry into the Kali River Rapids® Attraction, DINOSAUR, and DinoLand U.S.A.® area. It's all part of an Exclusive Post-Race Party at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park for participants in the Expedition Everest Challenge. The entry fee for registered participants includes entrance into this exclusive event.

For friends and family not participating in the event, a separate party ticket to enter Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park for the Post-Race Party is needed. You can buy additional party tickets for your friends and family.* Guests will need a hard ticket to enter. Annual passes will not provide admission to the party. The party is subject to capacity limits so there are a limited number of party tickets available. Party tickets are non-refundable and must be picked up at Packet Pick-Up.

The entry fee for registered participants includes entrance into an exclusive Post-Race Party at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Attractions open for this party include Kali River Rapids® Attraction, DINOSAUR, Dinoland U.S.A.® Area, and the Expedition Everest Attraction*.

I'm going against everything I believe in when it comes to rumors, specifically DISNEY rumors, but I find this one way too juicy (and likely accurate) to pass up. According to a few reputable WDW fan websites, it seems that the Studio Backlot Tour is poised to close down at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
