Fly High Above Disney with Air Force Fun!

This past Sunday, I was treated to one of the coolest adventures I have been on in a very long time. My good friend Erika has just opened Air Force Fun which offers helicopter tours of the Orlando attractions area. Air Force Fun is the new kid on the block when it comes to tours but I will tell you from first-hand experience that they are probably one of the best. Located right next to the Orlando Premium Outlets near Lake Buena Vista, Air Force Fun is open seven days a week from 9:30 AM until sunset.

If you have any reservations about going up in a helicopter, the friendly staff will put you at ease very quickly. Obviously, there are safety precautions to take, but those are things that you worry about while you are still on the ground. It's 100% pure fun while you're up in the air!

The pilots are very knowledgeable, very friendly and are quick to point out exactly (with great detail) what you are looking at 600 feet below you. On a clear day, it's so incredible what you can see. Some of the views are quite outstanding, and as a local, it gave me a much better appreciation of what I see each and everyday. Joseph Lando was my pilot and he was OUTSTANDING!

Air Force Fun offers six (6) different tours that range from 4-5 minutes all the way up to approximately 25 minutes. Tours feature flyovers of Downtown Disney, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, the International Drive Resort Area, SeaWorld, Aquatica and Universal Orlando. Unfortunately, flyovers are not permitted over the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom. But don't worry, you will definitely have plenty to see. Prices start at $20.

Air Force Fun does follow FAA guidelines, so there are a few restrictions required to fly. There is a maximum weight requirement on the aircraft, so please do not be offended when they ask to take your weight. You will be given a safety briefing prior to boarding - there are also no bags, purses, weapons or smoking allowed on the aircraft. You may use your camera while in the air; Air Force Fun will soon offer ground pictures to capture your pre-boarding.

I would definitely recommend Air Force Fun over any other helicopter tour in Orlando. The friendly staff, professional pilots, beautiful location, attention to safety and some of the most awesome views of the attraction areas definitely put them at the top of my list. Once you try them, I know they'll be at the top of yours, too!

Check them out at www.airforcefun.com (please note their website is under construction)

Air Force Fun is located at:
12211 Regency Village Drive Suite #13

In the meantime, enjoy the great views below!

PIXAR Place Expansion Coming Soon??

I'm going against everything I believe in when it comes to rumors, specifically DISNEY rumors, but I find this one way too juicy (and likely accurate) to pass up. According to a few reputable WDW fan websites, it seems that the Studio Backlot Tour is poised to close down at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We know that since Oaken's Trading Post and Frozen Funland are moving out of the Soundstage 1 area, work should soon begin on the rumored (and much needed) third track for Toy Story Mania.  Why close the Backlot Tour? It appears that area is destined to be home to a rather extensive PIXAR Place expansion. According to WDW News Today, we will likely see smaller, flat-rides developed for Toy Story Playland at Disneyland Resort in Paris and Toy Story Land at Hong Kong Disneyland including RC Racer, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin, and the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop. Attractions in this area don't take us much real estate as these rides would require, so WDW News Today specula

The Art of Topiary Gardening from Walt Disney World Resort

Topiary gardening, the art of fashioning living plan into ornamental shapes, has been practiced for centuries. Found throughout the gardens of the Walt Disney World Resort are hundreds of topiary figures, ranging from traditional hedges and sheared trees to fanciful shapes and a whole menagerie of "chlorophyll" Disney characters. Types of Topiary Four different types of topiary at the Walt Disney World resort have developed out of our desire to put on an award-winning horticultural show. Free-form topiary and standard form topiary require your imagination and some sharp shears - the other two utilize a frame specially suited to their needs. A lightweight frame is used for shrub topiary, while sphagnum topiary require a much stronger frame specially designed to support the weight of the figure. Standard Form Topiary The world standard is used to describe a plant that is grown to a designated height and then encouraged to bush or form a "head" at t
