Disney Springs Construction News



Disney had some news about the ongoing construction of Disney Springs:

As we begin to re-imagine Downtown Disney, construction will kick off for the Disney Springs project May 6, 2013. Crews will install construction walls in the area around the West End Plaza on Pleasure Island in the overnight hours of Sunday, May 5 to Monday, May 6. The construction will have an impact on some existing operations, including Laffers Cantina Bar and nightly Entertainment.

Laffers Cantina Bar
The last day of operation for the Laffers Cantina Bar at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island will be Sunday, May 5. Guests can enjoy other nearby bars, including Paradiso 37, PI Live bar and Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant. In addition, a temporary bar will open at the Lily Pad near Fulton’s Crab House May 7 and will offer beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages.

Entertainment Moves
The nightly Entertainment acts at the West End Plaza on Pleasure Island will move to new locations beginning Monday, May 6:
  • Living Statues: move to Keith’s Park area near Pollo Campero
  • Green and Purple stages: move to Park Stage in the lawn near Bongos Cuban Café (includes: Drey-C, Nicholas Marks, Mitch Corbin, La Calle, Blonde Ambition and Nova Pop)

Magic Kingdom to open for 24 hours on Memorial Day Weekend

Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will kick off a Monstrous Summer by keeping three theme parks open for 24 hours nonstop on Memorial Day Weekend, the traditional start of the family travel season. The three-park all-night party is happening at the Magic Kingdom Park in Florida and Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park in California. The parks will stay open from 6 a.m., May 24 to 6 a.m., May 25, 2013, local time. In Florida, Magic Kingdom Park will feature a “Monsters University” theme where Mike and Sulley will be the Grand Marshals of the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” day parade and make appearances in Tomorrowland. There will be extra entertainment throughout the day and night, including characters in their pajamas in Town Square during the late night and early morning, and late-night dance parties in and around the courtyard of Cinderella Castle.
