New in 2014, Queen Elsa from “Frozen” uses her incredible powers to transform Cinderella Castle into a glistening ice palace for the holidays. Joined on the Forecourt stage by Princess Anna, rugged mountain man Kristoff and Olaf, the summer-loving snowman, Elsa bestows this gift onto the people of Magic Kingdom with colorful snowflakes, fireworks and a special effects spectacle bathing the castle in 200,000 shimmering white lights. Magic Kingdom guests are treated nightly to the dramatic “A Frozen Holiday Wish” stage show.


The Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington, joins the holiday celebration at Walt Disney World Resort during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Dressed as “Sandy Claws,” Jack is greeting party guests and bringing Christmastown to Storybook Circus at Magic Kingdom. The special-ticket event takes place on select nights in November and December at Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.


Hiro Hamada and his huggable companion Baymax, from Disney’s newest animated feature “Big Hero 6,” are welcoming guests to Hiro’s garage workshop inside The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Fans of the movie, now in theaters can also tour the lab from San Fransokyo Insitute of Technology. “Big Hero 6” is an action-packed comedy-adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro, who’s catapulted into the midst of a dangerous plot and must transform his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and a diverse group of friends into a band of high-tech heroes. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is located at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Magic Kingdom to open for 24 hours on Memorial Day Weekend

Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will kick off a Monstrous Summer by keeping three theme parks open for 24 hours nonstop on Memorial Day Weekend, the traditional start of the family travel season. The three-park all-night party is happening at the Magic Kingdom Park in Florida and Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park in California. The parks will stay open from 6 a.m., May 24 to 6 a.m., May 25, 2013, local time. In Florida, Magic Kingdom Park will feature a “Monsters University” theme where Mike and Sulley will be the Grand Marshals of the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” day parade and make appearances in Tomorrowland. There will be extra entertainment throughout the day and night, including characters in their pajamas in Town Square during the late night and early morning, and late-night dance parties in and around the courtyard of Cinderella Castle.
